The first letter I write at every Letter Nerds meeting will be to my 2-year-old daughter Alice.
Months before she was born, I bought a $20 journal and a new pen at Barnes & Noble. I promised myself I'd write notes to Alice all the time. Fill the book. She'd read it when she grew up.
Except I hardly ever opened that journal. When I did, I didn't always know what to say.
So one reason Letter Nerds exists is to remind me to write to Alice every month. Tell her how she spent her weekend. What she talked to mama about. What animals she loves.
I hope someday, when she's older, she writes back.
